Craniocorpography (CCG)

Craniocorpography (CCG) is a test used to evaluate the vestibulospinal reflex, which is crucial for maintaining balance during walking. It assesses how well the body maintains balance by recording head and body movements during specific tasks like standing, walking, and stepping. The test helps in diagnosing and understanding the nature of vestibular disorders, particularly those causing vertigo and balance problems.

What it measures:
  • Head and body movements: CCG records the movements of the head and body during various balance tests, often using lights or markers attached to the head and shoulders, and then capturing the movements on film or digitally.
  • Vestibulospinal reflex: This reflex is responsible for maintaining balance by coordinating signals from the inner ear (vestibular system) with muscles in the body.
  • Vestibular function: The test helps determine if there’s a problem with the vestibular system and whether the body has compensated for any issues.

Computerized Stabilometry (Posturography)

Posturography is a test that assesses a person’s balance control by evaluating how they maintain their posture under various conditions. It’s often used to diagnose balance disorders and monitor the effectiveness of treatments like vestibular rehabilitation. The most common type is Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP), which utilizes a moving platform and sensors to measure sway and balance function under different sensory conditions.
